The electrical connectors are prone to snapping off. Spray with brake parts cleansing agent(lightly); then any sort of silicone spray(lightly) before you attempt to remove them.

2 of my front coil electrical connectors bust when I changed the spark plugs at 162K. I victimised mortal-fusing tape recording to secure them. The time now reads 209K and all is well.

Buy out only a Denso or OEM Toyota ignition coil and as Microphone Murrell said, spray the connector with bracken cleaner. The latches break really easy. I put on't push down feather on the door latch to release it; I get under the patronage finish with a 90 degree pick and gently lift improving on the latch.

Dependant on how many miles are on the spark plugs, now might be the time to replace #4 spark secure as asymptomatic. Again, only Denso Beaver State OEM Toyota. NGK will work if that is all that is useable.

Be after on replacement more coils in the prospective since the other 5 are the same mature.

I with all respect disaccord. I've had three OEM coils fail. I bought a BWD from O'Reilly for $85 with a lifetime warranty. I've had no issues.

I then discovered Wells coils, which have been engineered to fix the ground flaw in the Toyota OEM coils that causes the failures. I replaced all three rear bank coils when the first one failed. I've had no issues with the Wells coils. Watch the picture for more info.

When you enunciat you had three OEM coils fail, do you mean germinal or replacement?

The coils that came with our Avalons were made past Diamond, not DENSO. Toyota did non make them, but they were made to Toyota specifications by another troupe. They are familiar to fail and sometimes they will short internally, kicking the ignition offline so the car North Korean won't start.

I watched the propaganda video from Wells. It did not specifically mention any design improvements. Do you have a link to the site that has the information more or less the reengineering to fix the ground flaw?

Harbour't had to replace any on my 2009 (yet) but I do know that information technology's smart to plan to replace these, especially if you are going to aspire 200k miles.

You can get the Denso coil from Rock Car parts, for $53. About 1/2 price of the retail part at a dealer.

Original. Toyota only snookered me once on the factory coil and labor prices. Ended $300 to supercede 1 front coil, which takes 10 minutes for a rookie. Not a fan of the dealership or licensed service writers.
